Problems of Choosing The Right Profession

Biologically, the time when a person crosses the line of being a child and becomes an adult afterwards is related to teen ages. However, this very same border on mental level is postponed by several years. Educational systems all around the world, therefore, demand from children to decide about their future professions at their very early ages. Some of them are "blessed" with astonishing insights into the business world and are able to pick the right education that will lead them to the necessary degree which will eventually provide them the job they have picked for themselves. Others might have just guessed well what will be needed in the future and in such manner they merit a well-paid job. Parents' role in this whole situation is very important as well, as they can direct their children towards productive careers – according to their current knowledge.

Choosing the right profession brings confusion
And while none of the above's "plans" is a 100 percent guarantee of a business success in the future, none is a guarantee of personal satisfaction as well. The reality is more complex and while in this delicate situation there are no right and wrong answers, one should be brave enough to decide which aspect of their life is more important – money/career or happiness.

The first and most important question, therefore, one should ask themselves is whether to pick something they want and like or something that can provide them good living after acquiring the degree they have opted and studied for. As one can never be sure whether the study they have chosen will turn out to be fructuous, there is always a slight risk of  being unsatisfied with the gained diploma in the end. Unfortunately, not even parents' advices are always profound.

It is never questionable whether our parents wants us nothing but welfare. However, one should be aware that business situations change rapidly – we have all witnessed a sudden development of computer and information sciences in the last couple of decades. In a parallel manner we have also witnessed opening new job positions and closing some of the old ones as the development grew. For example, there is no need for professional typers anymore, as everyone can nowadays type almost anything they want without a professional help, but there is a need, however, for system administrators and such professions. These new jobs could not even have existed at the time of choosing the profession or were still quite unknown and not popular at the time. Perhaps professions like being a lawyer, doctor or professor were more likely to be promising – hence they were suggested to the children. The truth can sometimes be completely opposite, as some newly opened job positions related to computer programming are more paid than professions mentioned above.

On the other hand, while considerating which thing is more important – financial or personal satisfaction and welfare, perhaps the job we would like to have or the profession we would be most happy with can sometimes be unrealistic or are likely to be able to support only one person but not the whole family. The latter issue opens up a whole new perspective where even settling down and having a family should also be considered. There are just too many aspects to be considered when one thinks more in detail about future profession and career. It is already hard enough for adults to make decisions regarding this question and also we have seen how even their advices from experience do not have to be always profound. Yet, our unfortunate children have to decide about these things on their own and often stick to it till the rest of their lifes. A good news is that potential "mistakes" regarding choosing the right college, university or school in general can actually be corrected.

On-line Education is a virtual world of possibilities

Knowing how the educational system works and what it can offer to an individual is essential. The varieties are numerous and therefore everyone can find something according to their own preferences and needs. The traditional schooling system, which is usually divided into three main parts – elementary school, secondary school and higher education – can be completed or perfected by various offered opportunities of on-line education. On-line education offers numerous courses, trainings, etc. – sometimes even for free.

The traditional version of schooling system is currently mandatory to the certain level in most of the countries. Our kids must go through it and face it whether they like it or not. Parents can help a lot by guiding them through this huge mess of possibilities but it is also them who should know that their job is not done by giving an advice. By supporting them on this bumpy road to the unknown and letting them know their current decisions do not necessarily have to be final will help them tremendously.
